Why Modular?

The construction industry is changing every day especially in these tough economic times.  Most home buyers want to have peace of mind that their home is well built and will last.  Modular Homes are an excellent solution to the problems facing the construction industry.  Modular Homes have been around for years.  They are built similarly to conventional homes.  However they are constructed in a controlled environment to the most stringent codes required by the state to which they are to be shipped.  The standards and quality are actually higher than in many site-built custom homes.

Modular Homes are built in “modules” and then assembled on-site into one structure and set upon a permanent foundation.  These homes are actually built stronger than a site-built home home because it has to endure the transportation process to the building site and then lifted up by a crane and set onto the foundation.  Modular Homes could contain up to 30% more lumber than a traditional site-built home in order to achieve this structural integrity.

With the rise in green building going up significantly and showing now signs of going away, Modular Homes are becoming more visible for their green living potential.  In addition, modular homes are more affordable and energy efficient than typical, site-built homes.  Here are some reasons why:

  • Building Modular Homes cuts on waste - about 50 to 75% less than standard homebuilding
  • They require less time and labor to complete
  • Modular Homes can cost 10 to 30% less to build than a site-built home.
  • They are built in a controlled environment which contributes to reduced wastes of materials at the factory and the jobsite which lessens the environmental impact on the land and the community where the house will be delivered.
